"Once More"

I sat alone in that dark place,
waiting to spot you at any time.
Though being alone I waited with grace,
you told me you'd be there by nine.

All I could hear were voices in my head,
telling me that you were just a fantasy.
That all you were was what I read,
in that book about a tragedy.

Slowly my eyes started to close,
as I fell asleep with me all alone.
The next morning I awoke to find a beautiful rose,
with the sparkling smell of your cologne.

At that point in time I knew I'd reached my goal,
to find once more your inspiring soul.

This is my all time favorite poem that I wrote for an English assignment in middle school and I still can picture what I was imagining was taking place when I wrote it. What do you think this poem is about?

Poet at a Glance

Looking back on the years when I wrote the most it was love, loss, and sadness that inspired me to take what I felt and put it on paper. Many times saying what you feel is the most difficult task to do when face to face with someone. The ability to express what you have bottled up can be expressed so beautifully and eloquently in writing whether it be a poem or journal entry. Poetry at it's best is being able to put on paper what you would say face to face to someone if you let your guard down and spoke from the heart knowing no one will pass judgement on you. Knowing that at the end of your message you would feel as if a huge weight was lifted off of you. Knowing that regardless of what the message is you are trying to express at the end of it all you would go back to being able to breathe; being able to be you regardless of the outcome.
